T.G.I.F Grateful, Thankful, Random

Yay!!!!! It's Friday at last and I am mighty glad. I have been waiting for Friday since Monday. Yes, I am falling in love with the weekends more because I don't have to be up so early to go to work. If that sounds really lazy of me, it's because you do not know what my schedule is like.  :)

Juggling and balancing being a wife, mother, Banker, daughter, niece, sister, daughter-in-law, friend, counsellor and BLOGGER is not an easy task but I think I wouldn't have it any other way. I am really glad for the strength to be all of these and more.  I get a lot of compliments and comments about how I juggle all of these roles and sometimes, even I ask myself how I do it. I do know it can only be the grace of,, and strength from the Almighty Himself that gets me through it and so I am mighty thankful this Friday.

I am thankful for my family. I am thankful I am loved and that I can love freely without inhibitions. I am thankful for so many things. This does not mean I don't want much more in my life (who doesn't need a couple of clean millions and a car right now? Lol ;) but it means I am truly grateful for all I have in my life right now. And that includes you, yes you reading this. I am thankful for you and I love everyone who takes times to come by my blog to read my randomness.

I've had a strong urge to start doing videos these past couple of months but I have been too busy to give it much of a thought. I think I will take some lessons in recording and editing and then give it a go. What do you think? :)

Enjoy your Friday.

Shoutout to Rachel, my colleague at work. It's her birthday today. I wish all those celebrating in this month of June, all the very best in their endeavours.

Music Is Soul Food

I have resisted watching Fast and Furious & because of Paul Walker's demise. I was a huge fan of his and was deeply pained by his avoidable death. It was not until this past Sunday that I summoned up the courage to watch the movie, and it was more bearable but definitely very touching. I wondered how his co-cast/friends/family are coping with his death. Death is so annoyingly final.

Truly music is the art of the soul and this song, See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, in itself seems to have a soul of its own. Every time I listen to it, I feel Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa's pains and it helps me come to terms better with Paul's death. An absolutely fantastic and well sung song.

Enjoy.

#TGIF - This Cutie Will Have You Laughing

Oh my days, this is one of the cutest videos ever. Watch this little angel switch facial expressions at a prompting from her mum. It is so cute and funny. I wonder how she does it because she seems so young.

How's your weekend looking? ;)

Ode To Friday And Some Rants

Hello Friday, it's me

I have been waiting for you all week long

You have brought joy to my heart and a song

It's been such a distance between us, see

But at last you are here for me

You did not come alone, no Friday

You brought Saturday and Sunday

O, what fun we will have

A foursome like none other we would carve

Hello Friday, it's me

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL. I know, It's a bit nuts to write a poem dedicated to Friday but such is the level of my weariness that I look forward to the weekend. Nigeria drains me mentally and physically. I had a rough night because there was no light, no fuel to run my generator, no breeze no nothing to make the night bearable. My poor kids were perspiring but they slept soundly, thankfully.

I was so upset overnight with the country and the way things have been run so far. How can citizens not have access to petrol? It's like living by a stream yet dying of thirst. So wrong and unjust to us. Something needs to give, but unfortunately I don't know how or when it would because majority of Nigerians are all talk and zero actions.

In this same country, we are hearing all over the place about how some former "leaders" shared a loot of about N2.1 BILLION meant for the arming and safety of soldiers. These selfish buggers took the money, shared it and sent those poor chaps to their deaths, faced with Boko Haram with no adequate weapons. How cruel can one get? They could have used all that money to buy so many top and tech weapons to fight the terrorists and save thousands of lives but no, why save lives when we can steal it all and squander it on luxuries. KMFT. They are worse than terrorists and I hope they get served what's due them.

If half of the poppycock we are subjected to here where to occur in other countries, heads would have been rolling and the needful would have been done.

Sigh.

Let me not ruin my lovely weekend so early in the day with my justified ramblings. Friday is upon us after all. :)

Everything In Nigeria Is Out To Get You.

The frailty of life gets me every time. One minute a person is so alive and bubbly and the next, boom, they are gone. This is not meant to be a morbid post, but a wake-up call for us to live for each moment and embrace/enjoy life to its fullest as tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Popular Nigeria author, Ayo Sogunro, wrote a collection of poems in 2014 and the chilling title gets me every time. The book was titled "Everything in Nigeria is Going To Kill You" and I cannot agree more with this because the system and environment keeps failing us every time. Going out in the mornings and returning at night is a miracle by its own rights!

How? Well, even if you are the sanest driver driving a brand new bullet proof vehicle, the bad roads filled with potholes will either cause you to stumble and tumble, or a pedestrian lost in thought would wander across your car on the highway and you would either have to slam on your brakes thus risk getting hit from behind, or you would have to swerve to avoid the pedestrian and risk running into some iron or concrete. Either way, everything in Nigeria is out to get you. A horrific accident happened in Lagos two days ago that took the wind out of the sails of everyone. A trailer carrying a 40ft cement-filled container fell off a bridge and landed on an SUV below. It flattened the vehicle and killed all its occupants instantly. I shuddered in mortification at the sight as I tried to picture the last moments of the unfortunate occupants. One moment innocently chatting away in their car, perhaps listening to the radio and debating over a certain issue, next moment BOOM and they were gone forever. :( No one should have to die so horrifically and avoidably. If only the driver had ensured the container was properly secured and if only he had been more careful driving, perhaps those people would still be alive.

Alas, c'est la vie (such is life).

I was involved in a freak accident at work two days ago which also made me feel the frailty of life firsthand. Some fella piled the fridge with bottles of soft drinks and went as far as stocking up the panels on the refrigerator's door. I never would have imagined anyone would do such a thing, so I opened the fridge to get out a drink. One moment, I was opening the door, the next moment I was seeing bottles fall out, land on the tiled floor, glass and liquid flying upwards towards my face. On reflex, I closed my eyes but not fast enough before a shard of glass entered my EYE. Just like that, I went from looking all dolled up to washing my eye out at a sink I was led to and hoping I wouldn't lose the eye. The very thought of  losing my eye sight scared me. Thankfully, a visit to the emergency room in my registered hospital sorted me out. I have dreaded opening any fridge since then but hopefully it won't turn into a phobia, lol. That incident only made it clearer to me that life is indeed very short.

Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed to the fullest and not just endured. It is up to you, yes you, to make this happen. Remember my post here about finding happiness and reveling in it? Yes, it's all on YOU. Make it happen and let every second of your life count and be worthwhile.

Live. Life. Love. Life.

LMAO! What An EPIC Reaction!!!!

Oh my days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've got a headache from laughing so hard at the video below. It reminds me of a horror ride I once went on at Disney Paris. I still have the candid picture souvenir and the expression on my face was priceless. Maybe I would put it up one day.

Back to this brave couple who went on a ride..........LOL I don't know where this was taken and who they are but I can't stop laughing. Thanks to the sender of this video for making my day with this.

Let me translate for those who don't understand Yoruba.

For The Love Of Money. TGIF

Thank God It's Friday. :)

I came across this image yesterday and the aptness of it moved me. As important and essential having money is, we must not forget to live while we go about in our pursuit of it. We allow the mundane things to overwhelm us while never truly seeking our happiness for ourselves and those around us. This shouldn't be so because we are only promised this one life and living it to the fullest is important.

You can read the post I wrote here about Finding Your Happiness. It is really important that we stop to smell the flowers and watch the bird and bees often rather than focusing on our problems all the time.

Come on and smile. :)

Have a fabulous weekend ahead.

Butterflies In My Tummy :)

Yayyyyyyy, it's Friday and I'm happy for the weekend is upon me. There's something about Friday's that brings out the best in me which I just can't place. Could it be because the next day is Saturday and I don't have to wake up so early? Or could be because Fridays are usually dress-down at work and being casual probably sets off fun-hormones in me? Hehehehe.

This Friday, I'm buzzing because my brother who owns and runs Cake Mayor, paid me a surprise visit at work with a box of delicious varieties of cupcakes. He actually pranked me by calling 5 minutes earlier and claiming he was at home and had just called to check on me. So imagine my pleasant surprise when I got a call from the front desk that there was a Joseph from a media company asking to see me, getting out there and seeing him standing there. I ran up to him and hugged him hard like he had been away for years. LOL.

If you haven't tasted cakes from Cake Mayor yet, then you are so last year. :) His cakes are a sinfully delicious delight that would make you melt and tremble. In the box below, I've got different types of cupcakes like Coffee cake, Red Velvet cake, Vanilla cake, Chocolate cake and Strawberry cake. Yum Yum. It is really hard deciding which to share with my colleagues and which to keep for myself. Sigh. :D

I'm not the only one pleased with the cupcakes, everyone around me are as well. So surprise someone today and make happiness spread. Happiness is contagious. :)
