Life And Curve Balls

Life.

It often comes at you quite unexpectedly, fast and hard. Sometimes, the curve balls life throws at us comes out of the blue and smacks us in the face. There's nothing we can do to stop or properly prepare us for these curve balls when they hit other than to do our best to rise above the challenges and emotions that comes with.

I feel like there should have been a course in university tagged 'Life, Curve balls and Adulthood: How to overcome." A full module with real life case studies helping us to know what shockers life could and would have waiting for us as we approach adulthood, and likely solutions to help overcome these challenges when they do come.

I have been through some really deep, life-threatening, life-changing situations in the time I have spent on earth so far (I do not go by the e-name Survivor17 by mistake) but the events of the past one year broke me in more ways than I can ever put down here succinctly. In simpler words, life has shown me pepper shege ooooooooo BUT I no gree. 😁I am not one to give up or quit on anything at all. So for every Gbas (hit) life lands me, I give back as much of a resounding Gbos (hit back), even if this just means taking it all up on the shin but not giving up on life itself.

Anyway, that is gist a post for another day.

Today, I am here to show gratitude for my life being preserved after I had a near-fatal accident six years ago. I wrote a bit about it here back then but I did not quite capture what happened in details. It was bad and up till now, I still do not know how I came out of that wreckage alive. The crushed car was totally written off. I was returning home from a work event with a colleague, who was driving, when we got hit by something and our car started somersaulting. For some weird reason, I felt a very calming peace envelope me but after I counted the fourth overturn, I just closed my eyes and resigned myself to fate. Several somersaults afterwards and we came to a halt on the other side of the road facing the wrong way.

After the accident, we were helped AND robbed by passersby. The car was a complete write-off. It was a wild experience but I am glad I lived to tell the story. Between then and now, I have been the Survivor I always am, regardless of what life throws at me. Still, I keep rising. πŸ’ͺπŸ˜ƒ

In conclusion, adulthood is harder than the rock of Gibraltar but we must persevere and LIVE life right. When life throws lemons at you, cut them up, pour them into a glass cup, add some vodka and ice and drink up.

Cheers.

Flashback To Day 20 Of #BringBackOurGirls

I wrote the post below on my Facebook wall on the 20th day after the #BringBackOurGirls situation occurred. We marched in Lagos to create awareness and make the government at that time take the the situation seriously. Their nonchalant attitude from the onset of the kidnap helped the terrorists get away with TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY FOUR GIRLS, without interference.

It's a crying shame that over two years later, all of the girls still haven't been found nor returned home.

Day 20 #BringBackOurGirls

After several days of campaigning online for our lackadaisical government to #BringBackOurGirls I hit the streets of Lagos early this morning. Concerned citizens converged as agreed at CMS bus stop but we accosted by some irate policemen. One of them was so irrationally temperamental despite our claims that we came in peace to appeal for the release of the 234 girls that were abducted on the 16th of April by the cowardly BokoHaram terrorists.

All we were armed with were our banners, placards and strong wills. Those poor dears have been gone for too long, their plights unimaginable in the hands of those monsters. How long does this irresponsible government expect us to keep mute and act like sheep led to slaughters?

Today we stood an dared them to shoot or join us peacefully. After all their pensions have been looted by this same government officials. The particular pissed off irate policeman threatened to shoot us and in his fury, fired off 5 shots of teargas. I watched as the canisters ricocheted off the bridge, heart in mouth praying no one gets hit or hurt. Thankfully no one did.

Eventually, they simmered down after we told them what their pension funds had been spent on. Then they escorted us to the Onikan Stadium.

One thing I know is this, united we stand and divided we fall. If we stand for nothing in the face of the blatant corruption going on in our country, we will fall apart absolutely.

You may think the North is still far away and you are safe in your zone now, but I beg to differ.

Terrorism is like a fast spreading cancer, if it isn't nipped in the bud it will come for us all.

All's Well That Ends Well

Yesterday, I had one of the shittiest days I've ever had. I was 50 shades of stressed, exhausted, hormonal, swamped with work, cranky and all that was in between. At least twice, I felt like bursting ito tears just for the hell of it but I did not because I'm rugged like that. Hehehehe, SurvivorTinz

One minute, it was 5pm and the next thing I knew when I glanced at my watch, it was 7.03pm!!! I had missed the staff bus and I still had loads to do. Sigh. I called my cabbie and quickly had a conference call with our Abuja branch and the head of one of the departments here in Lagos, while waiting for him and packing my stuff up simultaneously. After the call, I was so exhausted that my brain simply didn't register that my cabbie had not called to say he had arrived, instead, I just bade everyone goodnight and exited the building. I was really knackered and a tad sad at that point.

Upon getting outside and realising my folly, I called my cabbie and thankfully, he was close. Suddenly, I noticed a cheeky colleague of mine shinning his teeth inside a tinted shiny car. Ahnahn, warrisgoingonhere, I wondered. I went up to the car and there he was, grinning broadly like the cat that ate the canary, lol (he will kill me for this). We chatted a bit and he introduced me to his friend who rode shotgun. I stopped to take my cabbie's call when I noticed that something was blinging in the back of the car, so I went back to the car and demanded to know who was hiding at the back (yes, I can be bossy and in-your-face like that, lol). Mind you, I was still sad, knackered and cranky at this point o.

The occupant wound down the glass and it was.............................. wait for it........................ *drum roll* dumdumdumdumdum.......................... wait a bit more while I relish my pleasant surprise at who it was.......................................... Ok ok ok, calm down, lol. It was Korede Bello!!!!

Yes, Korede Bello Doro Mega Superstar Super Cutie With The JerryCurls of MAVIN!!!! Only last month, I blogged here about his awesome song Romantic featuring Tiwa Savage. HaHa, I swear down, everything that was wrong with me before setting my eyes on him was righted and disappeared in that instant. Who needs UN ambassadors to achieve World Peace when we have Korede Bello? :)

I immediately bullied asked him to open the door and I got in, he was soooooooo cute and friendly. We took selfies, I dazzled him with my pent up positive vibes, he serenaded me and a friend who called at that moment (I can still hear her screaming ringing in my ears, lol), we gisted, followed each other on Twitter (well, I followed him and helped him to follow me, lmao), I gave him needed and unsolicited advise on how to handle groupies (LOL at his embarrassed demeanour, oh yes I went there), I think I managed to convince him to elope with me too, (I kid, I kid). I do think I was able to convince him to take me on his private jet as his counsellor and advisor, lol.

We were all shades of silly last night and I was relieved because before I ran into him, all i wanted to do was get into my cab and cry hot tears of exhaustion and frustration but Korede Bello became my silver lining last night. He even viewed my blog and thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's post on Damien Escobar so if there's ever an explosive musical collaboration between the both of them, remember it all started right here. ;)

So folks, no matter what you're going through, stay strong, endure because there are always rainbows after every storm, and there's always light at the end of every dark tunnel.

Have a wonderful day ahead and keep being #AllHeartsAlways.

*whistling and walking off on sunshine*  :)

Enjoy this as much as I do everyday. :)

Buki's Bits And A Funny Video.

Good morning to you and you and you and you. It's my second day at my new job and even though the morning (by the morning, I mean as early as 4am because that's when I get up now in order to get to work in time. *Grins*) didn't quite go according to plan, I am still cheery and cheerful. I was a bit upset initially but then I took a second look at what was going wrong and I chose to focus on what was right (thanks to my supportive hubby as well ;)

I went ahead to tweet that "Life will always find ways or use people to try to screw you over. Don't let 'em get to you. #BePositive #AllHeartsAlways" and I believe this totally. We would feel happier of we rise above challenges and dwell on the way forward rather than dwell on disappointments.

So the emoticon above was my initial reaction to the video below when I first saw it on Facebook yesterday. I couldn't believe my eyes and thankfully my brain was quick to calm my excitement down by raising the "fake video" alert!!!! It was nevertheless very amusing to me that someone would even think up such. Watch what happens at the end. LOL

Have a fabulous day ahead. :)
